Members will already be aware of the Wuhan novel Coronavirus that has sadly caused illness and mortality in China â and that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has advised against all but essential travel to China (BTHA newsflash, Wednesday 29th January). The World Health Organisation (WHO) has now declared the Wuhan novel Coronavirus a public health emergency of international concern.
At present the expert medical authorities do not have enough information to answer all questions that the public might have and the situation is rapidly evolving. Members are advised to refer to established, expert advice from the UK authorities and the WHO below and to check those websites as more information becomes available to Chinese and other national and international authorities.
The BTHA does not have the suitable expertise to comment further at this time.
Members seeking more information for their companies, staff, customers or consumers are referred at this time to either the World Health Organisation website (www.who.it) or to www.gov.uk.
