Toy Fair UK a hit.
Toy Fair, January 24 – 27 2007, ExCeL, London
With 235 exhibitors and busy aisles throughout the fair, the British Toy & Hobby Association (BTHA) hailed last week’s Toy Fair a huge success.
Dubbed ‘the biggest toyshop in the UK’, Toy Fair, which took place from January 24-27, was home to thousands of new toys, games, gifts and hobbies as well as hundreds of exclusive product launches with personal appearances from the likes of Gary Lineker (Underground Ernie) and Jamie Redknapp (Match Master), as well as record breaking attempts (Bedlam), birthday celebrations (Brookite, Scalextric, Teletubbies and VTech) and an unmissable Las Vegas magic show.
Retailers of all types came out in force to discover what toys will be hot for summer and Christmas 2007. There was also wide representation from all types of media, including the national press. The inaugural press briefing and breakfast was well received. The breakfast was hosted in association with NPD Group, who revealed that the UK toy industry had enjoyed five per cent growth in 2006.
“We’re delighted with the success of this year’s Toy Fair and the support it received from the UK industry. The show was actually sold out by November, which is testament to how important an event it is for our exhibitors. We are very much looking forward to welcoming them back in 2008,” said Kevin Jones, Chairman, British Toy & Hobby Association.
Toy Fair will take place from January 30 – February
