The Lion Mark

The Lion Mark was developed in 1988 by the British Toy & Hobby Association (BTHA) to act as a recognisable consumer symbol denoting safety and quality.

The Lion Mark is a badge of membership of the BTHA and therefore only members of the Association are able to display the mark on their packaging, website or promotional material.

Every year a BTHA member must sign a declaration by which they agree to adhere to the BTHA Code of Conduct. This ensures that our members not only meet current UK legislation, across a range of issues from safety to advertising, but often surpass the legal requirements to meet the best practise guidelines that make up the Code.

Members of the BTHA are committed to ethical marketing practices and strict safety and ethical manufacturing standards and are working towards a greener industry.

Some of our members will carry the mark on their packaging and others sign up to the same code but do not mark their products. If you would like a list of our members so you know who to look out for when buying toys, click here for a full list of BTHA members.

The Lion Mark is truly a consumer symbol you can trust, so when you are shopping for toys look for the Lion Mark.
