The Toy Trust
Since its foundation in 1990 by the BTHA, The Toy Trust has made a real difference to over a million children and their families in the UK and right across the world. With your help over £2 million has been raised over that time. The Toy Trust is an institution in which the toy industry can take real pride.
100% of funds raised for the Toy Trust reach the people who need it - every penny goes to children’s charities, as all administration costs are cleared by the BTHA or supported by no charge volunteer activity. All of the money helps children - through a huge variety of projects, many of which would not be possible without our assistance. Toy Trust funds help disadvantaged children and their families to:
- Alleviate suffering
- Support children through awful experiences
- Encourage achievement through adversity
- Purchase vital equipment
- Provide care
- Bolster existing initiatives
- Initiate brand new projects
- Satisfy basic needs
Guidelines for financial donations
The Toy Trust receives many requests for donations on a weekly basis. Each request is evaluated against a set of criteria:
- Helping disabled and disadvantaged children and families and communities directly involved with children (aged between birth and 13)
- Projects where the Toy Trust can make a big difference
- Applications are accepted from organisations based in the UK and Ireland but applications will also be considered from organisations around the world who have a UK-based office.
- Donations are not normally given to individual applicants although payments are supported to a single person specific to a life-enhancing need
- Requests should be made via or on behalf of a registered charity or community organisation
- Requests for salaries or research projects will not be granted
- Requests for advertising in souvenir brochures or "goodwill" advertising messages in any sort of publication will not be granted

The Toy Trust Big Kids Bike Ride 2008
For the 2008 event which will take place on Saturday 17th May, the country has been divided into 15 sections and will see the toy industry cycle from John O'Groats to Lands End - and back again! - with the help of friends, family, colleagues and suppliers. How To Get More Involved
Anyone wishing to raise money on behalf of the Toy Trust should contact the BTHA on 020 7701 7271. You may wish to undertake a personal challenge, such as running the next London Marathon or something more sedate such as bathing in a bath of baked beans for several days. If you would rather let the BTHA do the organising, donations of goods and services as prizes at the Dinner Dance are always welcome. And, of course, no self-respecting BTHA member would fail to enter a team in the Cycle Challenge. The Toy Trust is the BTHA's charity and members are encouraged to put forward their suggestions for likely recipients of Toy Trust Funds. All projects and charities, whether local, national or international, will receive consideration from the Toy Trust Committee. Through the enthusiastic involvement of BTHA members the Toy Trust will continue to raise funds for children who are disadvantaged and less fortunate than others.
